Alaska Airlines Adds Passbook Functionality

I must say that I have been waiting for this for quite some time. More and more companies are making use of Apple’s Passbook app. The latest addition to that group is Alaska Airlines. Today they announced that they have updated their Apple iPhone app with Passbook functionality.

Passbook gives very quick access to gift/cash cards (such as Starbucks), frequent flyer and hotel membership cards, as well as movie tickets and boarding passes. It can even be displayed on your Lock Screen based on your location and time.

To add your Alaska Air boarding pass to Passbook, open the Alaska Airlines app on your IOS device and view your boarding pass. Then tap on the “Add to Passbook” button that is displayed below the QR code.

Then open the Passbook app and you should see your boarding pass there!

As you may know I primarily fly Alaska Airlines so I am quite excited about this. It will save me time unlocking my phone and loading the Alaska Airlines app. I can’t wait to use it next time I fly!
