Flying on JetSuiteX was one of the most enjoyable travel experiences I have had in recent memory. Everything from start to end was seamless. One of my favorite things about flying on JetSuiteX was a particular drink selection, called CraftMix – a healthy cocktail powder.
Having a proper cocktail on a flight isn’t always possible. That is, if you exclude “well style” drinks like gin & tonic, Jack & Coke, or vodka sodas. CraftMix makes that possible with cocktail powder mixes. I was able to have a mojito and a mango margarita on a flight! When’s the last time that was possible?

As with other mixes, oh wait…. CraftMix is not like other mixes. Other powder mixes don’t typically involve alcohol. CraftMix, as you guessed it, is mixed with alcohol, water and ice.
Traditional cocktails are typically laden with added sugar. This is not the case with Craftmix cocktails. There is no more than 5 grams of sugar in each packet! Talk about a healthy cocktail!
That’s not the only thing that is surprising. The perfect part about this is the amount of alcohol and water that is used. The instructions indicate equal parts alcohol and water, 1-2 ounces of each to be more precise. What’s so special about 1-2 ounces of alcohol? A mini bottle of alcohol, those served on airplanes, are about 1.7 ounces. Also, the plastic cups that are given out are about 6-8 ounces. Adding in the ice, this makes the cups a perfect size to enjoy the perfect ratio to make a CraftMix cocktail!
The CraftMix powders come in three different refreshing flavors: mango margarita, whiskey sour, and mojito. The packets are small and thin, so they will easily fit into any of your pockets! I had all 3 varieties and was very impressed with all of them.
I’ll admit that I’m not really a big tequila drinker. It just isn’t really one of my “go tos”. So naturally, this was my least favorite. It was still a very refreshing cocktail. If you like tequila more than I do, then you’ll probably like this flavor a lot!
The mango margarita is particularly good, if you can, use a chili lime spice rim, as I did (poorly) in the picture above. This adds another flavor dimension to the drink. I wish it had a bit more of a mango flavor, but I don’t think this would be an issue for margarita drinkers.
Admittedly, I was skeptical about the whiskey sour flavor. I can be somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to drinks. A whiskey sour is typically made with egg whites. Could a powder mix replicate the traditional taste of a whiskey sour?
This answer is a resounding yes! This was the first drink I had on my JetSuiteX flight and I was amazed by the taste. The drink was well balanced. I could still taste the bourbon, yet the cocktail had a good amount of tart, especially for only 4 grams of sugar! Wow!
In my opinion, the mojito is the quintessential “laying on a beach on a tropical island” cocktail, next to a mai tai. The mint and sugar makes it super refreshing. I wasn’t sure that a powdered mix was going to pull it off.
While I can’t say that it transported me to a tropical island, I was very impressed by this simple mix. It was certainly as refreshing as a traditional mojito, but it wasn’t quite as sweet. With only 4 grams of sugar, I wasn’t surprised. Next time I fly JetSuiteX (and you can bet that there will be a next time!), I may bring a sugar packet, and perhaps a slice of lime, to zest this up.
