Great views of the coast. Staff were mostly very pleasant and helpful. Nice dining room with incredible views. The big negative is getting to and from your room on checkin/checkout. We were told that a valet would drive us and our car to the closest spot to our room and we could walk the rest of the way. But the valet had no such intention and instead told us how to walk the entire way ourselves from the lobby, while he parked our car. That involved multiple walkways, turns and stairs, and the signage was incorrect (Hyatt: there's a difference between a comma and a hyphen!). Same deal when we checked out. I get that this property is on a steep hill but the Inn should have solved this problem by now. The solution is simple: have a full staff service that takes heavy bags to guests' rooms for them. We did a lot of lugging, which I guess is why they call it luggage. But the annoyance factor was substantial enough to have reduced my review rating by two points.

Location, views, valet and dining area service

The property was absolutely stunning! Our room had a view of the ocean and was just magical. We stayed in one of the townhouses which had a full kitchen and dining space, a spacious living room with a fireplace, a magical bathtub for two, and the most comfortable room ever. There was also a deck!! I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is thinking about it. We will absolutely be back.

Returned guest from prior. Too much wood burning in light of recent massive wildfire resulting in endless smoke in the air. This place is still full of wood burning and it was awful. Guest

I picked this location on a whim and I’m so glad I did! I rented an upstairs, ocean facing suite for two nights and we couldn’t have been happier! The amenities were excellent and what you would expect for this price range. The staff was very prompt, responding to our requests in 5 minutes or less, with great attitudes. The bathroom was very well appointed with a clean, good sized shower and a separate, large jacuzzi bath for two. Our balcony was an excellent place to spend time taking in the views and the crisp, clean ocean air on our two relaxing wooden chairs. The views of the ocean are second to none. The room was very charming, with vaulted ceilings, a full kitchen with all glassware, plate ware, wine key, utensils, etc. The fireplace was a real wood burning fireplace. There was a stock of wood when we arrived, that we promptly burned through. I requested more at 4am and Emerson brought us a large bag of wood very quickly. Unfortunately, due to Coronavirus, the restaurant at the hotel wasn’t open, which meant no food room service was available. We ordered out instead, but we really wanted to try what looked like an excellent menu online for the hotels restaurant. Hopefully the next time we stay, the restaurant will be open! We highly recommend this magical hotel! The Hey

I didn’t like our room didn’t have a fireplace. I also didn’t like our bead being in front of a window where everyone was walking. I would have liked a lot more privacy

Fantastic experience. Secluded rooms nestled on the hills. Outdoor hottub and pool open in Jan. Ocean views from the room. We spent the morning on our balcony enjoying the sun and watching migrating grey whales. Superb service. My only complaint if anything is that there is no coffee available pre 7am.

Traffic noise in the morning is significant. Access to the beach area requires a car. Restaurant serves excellent food.

Fantastic views, but not many hotel amenities. Poor restaurant options. Site around rooms needs repair and upgrading.

We loved our room and the property - it was everything and more than we'd hoped for. Food in the restaurant was wonderful. The property itself was gorgeous and well-cared for. We had a couple of mishaps with the car, however. The lot near our room was very small and, as the hotel is situated on the cliffs, is quite tricky. My car got side-swiped by another. The next night, because we came in late and I didn't want to risk the tricky lot, I gave the car to valet parking. But the next day, valet parking had damaged the car, too. Hotel staff was nice to deal with however. Also, the last night of our stay, there was clanging and banging all through the wee-hours. While staff credited us for the stay, sleeping that night was impossible. But I'd stay here again, minus the flukes. There was some confusion about the reservation however. Breakfast was to be included in our reservation, which wasn't noted when we checked in. When we checked out, we discovered there was a limit on the charges, which we were never told. What's more, the breakfasts appeared on the bill and had to be credited. When I made the reservation, since I knew we had a very late flight, I'd asked for late check out. When I went to confirm, I was told there'd be a $50/hr charge for every hour stayed - the first time I'd heard it, and not what I'd been told at the reservation time.

Just outside Carmel. Great place to relax and soak in the views. hospitality was awesome!

Went here to get away from stress and relax (and propose). Be sure to ask for a top floor King. That way you won't hear people walking around above you. Our view was fantastic. Sunset at the balcony with a glass of wine or even a hot chocolate was very relaxing. You can have the fire place lit throughout the evening and leave the blinds open without worrying that people will be able to peer into your wide open room (they can't). So much privacy and a beautiful view. Room service / housekeeping was very attentive and prompt. Whatever we needed they brought. Breakfast at the California Market overlooking the ocean...wow! Panini was delicious. The place had other guests but we always felt like we were the only ones there. Valet parking is free and very very courteous. Dinner at Pacific's Edge wasn't good. Service was great, but food sucked (don't recommend it for food, just the view) - the view was fantastic. We recommend eating at Dametra Cafe instead. We would definitely come back again, in a heartbeat.

This property is no doubt one of the most spectacular properties in the country. The views of the Carmel area ocean and rocky shore are awesome. Even though the buildings were built many years ago, they are maintained beautifully. The views from the dining room and bar are unequalled. Room prices are steep, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience which is priceless.

Nice valet personnel. Great food in bar cafe & breakfast cafe. beautiful view, but wish we'd known our balcony was going to jut out over Highlands Drive :( That was a little disappointing. There were no comfortable chairs in the room & only one small trash can. Spa and pool were wonderful. Front desk staff was wonderful as well as Brittany. In the large fireplace lounge there were no lamps placed next to any comfortable chairs where you could sit and read (by the fire, etc). View was wonderful (would be perfect without being right on top of Highlands Drive). Overall great. Thank you.

Stayed one week. Rough start on maid service but improved dramatically after bringing shortcomings to the attention of the front desk. They have great (but expensive) rooms.
