As I have mentioned before, one of the best ways to accumulate miles or points is through credit card sign-up bonuses. One of the credit cards that is a staple in my wallet (and should be in yours) is the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. This card currently comes with a 50,000 point sign-up bonus after minimum spend. It has amazing other perks, most of which I will talk about in another post. One of these perks is the ability to transfer your points from the Chase Ultimate Rewards program to transfer partners, usually at a 1:1 ratio! This is amazing considering a free night at a top category Hyatt (which is also a transfer partner) is only 22,000 points. With just the sign-up bonus, that’s almost 2 free nights for a hotel in the center of Paris.
Today, I got an email from Chase that the Ritz-Carlton brand hotels have been added as a transfer partner at a 1:1 ratio. Reward stays start at 30,000 points for a tier 1 property (which includes several North American cities but the bulk are in Asia) and go up to 70,000 points for a tier 5 (which are the New York City, Hong Kong and Shanghai locations). However, there is a rotating selection of hotels that are even less.
While, I am sure I can find a different hotel for less points in the same city, it is nice knowing that I have an option I can use if I wanted to stay at a Ritz-Carlton for a night or two. We all know how Ritz-Carlton seems to be able to redefine luxury.
